This MIVI viscometer offers an incredible measuring range of 0,02 to 2 mPa.s. The new design of the vibrating rod is the major characteristic of this sensor. Installed with the standard measuring chamber, this viscometer is used to control spoilage of frigorific fluids. |

Online viscosity index measurement and calculation according ASTM 2270-04 Sofraser's THERMOSET MIVI which is a powerful online process monitor can measure dynamic viscosity (up to 10 000 mPa.s) at two different temperature points. When adjusting the two reference temperatures at 100°C and 40°C, the THERMOSET MIVI is able to calculate the VISCOSITY INDEX according to ASTM 2270-04. The fluid is permanently drawn from the process, brought at the required temperature, its viscosity measured at 100°C and 40°C, then re-injected in the main line. The density is simultaneously measured and the calculations are proceed by the 8003 controller. The system takes advantage of the recognized quality of the Sofraser's MIVI viscosity sensor and it's good reliability and accuracy. THERMOSET MIVI allows incredible time and money savings when installing, maintaining or cleaning. In most cases the system fits its own needs and requires no annex installation (as primary loops with exchangers, pump, filters, pressure controllers…). The absence of bath or oven allows immediate and secure maintenance. |

Sometimes you have to measure the viscosity of your product no matter when and no matter where. Process inline viscometer isn't the solution and taking the sample to lab costs time. In order to answer to this increasing market's request, Sofraser especially developed the new PIVI portable viscometer for field, factory and laboratory viscosity measurement. PIVI can be supplied with any range from 0,1-100 mPa.s to 100-100 000 mPa.s and handles a wide set of products. PIVI uses the vibrating type principle and profits by all the related advantages : easy to clean, no wear part, simple, rugged, accurate and reliable. PIVI displays instantaneously the viscosity value, can store up to 40 measurements and has an RS 232 link. Like the Sofraser's process viscometers PIVI can be equipped with temperature probe and handle product temperature up to 100°C. |

Last month Sofraser was proud to receive the visit of a minister of the French government, Gérard Larcher. He explains he came because Sofraser was an example in the management of its people abilities by spending much more than average in training and education and also by recruiting young technician and engineer in order to anticipate replacement of experienced collaborators. |
MIVI viscometer can be installed on-line, in-line and on-vessel (tank or reactor) and mounted in any position. In-line measurement usually need a mounting on an elbow to avoid any influence of flow variations. . |
Sofraser has developed a special set to allow a measurement on a straight line pipe. This is made of a Tee, two standard flanges and a special MIVI flange. This assembly is easy and dismountable in less than fifteen minutes using regular tools. Sofraser's viscometer can be adapted on a standard T and a tube that is soldered and which length depends on the pipe diameter. The vibrating rod is protected. This assembly has a good strength level and the viscometer unit creates no or very little energy loss. Measuring the viscosity can be performed only when the output flow is rather stable and laminar. |
Correction of thermal drift of standard MIVI sensor works from 20°C up to 100°C, 200°C, 300°C according to transmitter model and temperature option. Sofraser can deliver the MIVI sensor working down to –20°C with correction of the thermal drift. |
Installed with the standard measuring chamber these sensors are already used to control viscosity of brake fluids. Actually we notice an increase of the inquiries for this application. |
