Il prend en consid\u00e9ration l&#8217;influence de la temp\u00e9rature sur la <strong>viscosit\u00e9 cin\u00e9matique<\/strong> du fluide qui diminue lorsque la temp\u00e9rature augmente et inversement. La viscosit\u00e9 des liquides de lubrification et des fluides hydrauliques est un facteur tr\u00e8s important. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L&#8217;indice de viscosit\u00e9 est particuli\u00e8rement s&#8217;utilise dans l&#8217;industrie p\u00e9troli\u00e8re<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Si le lubrifiant est trop visqueux, le processus devra fournir beaucoup plus d\u2019\u00e9nergie pour mettre les pi\u00e8ces en mouvement. Ceci g\u00e9n\u00e8re des consommations d\u2019\u00e9nergie excessive avec r\u00e9duction des rendements. Si l&#8217;huile est trop fluide, la qualit\u00e9 de la lubrification est r\u00e9duite avec un risque d&#8217;usure des pi\u00e8ces en mouvement. Le <strong>contr\u00f4le pr\u00e9cis de l\u2019indice de viscosit\u00e9<\/strong> permet d\u2019assurer la qualit\u00e9 et la stabilit\u00e9 de l\u2019huile pour une utilisation donn\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous pouvons citer cet exemple concernant la <strong>lubrification des moteurs<\/strong> : les huiles de graissage des v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 moteur doivent r\u00e9duire le frottement entre les \u00e9l\u00e9ments. Quand le moteur est froid au d\u00e9marrage (temp\u00e9rature ambiante) de m\u00eame lors de son fonctionnement (200\u00b0 \u00e0 300 \u00b0 C). Les meilleures huiles correspondant au plus haut indice de viscosit\u00e9. Ils auront une viscosit\u00e9 \u00ab&nbsp;constante&nbsp;\u00bb en fonction de leur gamme de temp\u00e9rature. L\u2019\u00e9chelle de l\u2019indice de viscosit\u00e9 utilise les<strong> temp\u00e9ratures de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence<\/strong> suivantes&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>100\u00b0 Fahrenheit (40\u00b0 C)<\/li><li>210\u00b0 Fahrenheit (100\u00b0 C)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A l\u2019origine cette \u00e9chelle \u00e9tait gradu\u00e9e de 0 \u00e0 100 VI (huile de qualit\u00e9 sup\u00e9rieure). Mais actuellement avec l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des <strong>process de fabrication<\/strong> et des additifs nous pouvons trouver des huiles avec un indice largement sup\u00e9rieur.
